Well I've been home for a month...and it seems like I never went to Italy...I have the pictures, 660 of them, that prove that someone was there...and there's even a couple of B and I, but it seems like a dream. All the projects I had at work were still here, I still had to pack house and move, sell my house, and have surgery (which happens tomorrow). It's a very surreal feeling.
In other news, I'll have to go back to Rome soon, as I have found someone who teaches a weeklong micromosaics class (which involves tiny pieces of stretched glass...so small it's hard to see the individual pieces). There's also a micromosaic artist whose work I've seen in books who's located in Vancouver, WA...so on an OR trip I might try to stop by and meet her/see her work.
None of my glass stuff has been unpacked...most of the rest of the house is in order, but i haven't figured out how to set up the basement to be a good workshop...and i need to find a log for the hardie...and make a design for the fireplace...and do christmas gifts...and the front door stained glass piece...and...and...
I took a colored glass engraving class. The woman who taught it is an amazing artist, but I don't have the patience for it. I did enjoy sandblasting and thing that would add an interesting dimension to my stained glass work. I'm hoping Pratt will offer a glass painting class. I'll be taking a jewelry making and some other class from them the first week in December...apparently this was the year of artistic learning :-)
